Dalyan: A Unique Meeting Point of Nature and History

Dalyan, located in the Ortaca district of Muğla, is a destination renowned for both its natural beauty and historical richness. Stretching along the Dalyan Delta, this unique region is famous for its reed beds, pristine beaches, and İztuzu Beach, a nesting area for Caretta caretta turtles.

A visit to Dalyan is incomplete without a boat tour through the delta. Experiencing the breathtaking panorama of the Dalyan Delta, the enchanting reeds that make you feel like you are in a giant labyrinth or looking at the world map from above, is the ultimate way to connect with nature.

As you navigate through the reeds by boat, the towering rocky mountains nearby showcase the generosity and majesty of nature. The delta is home to around 180 bird species, including the colorful, long-billed kingfisher. Birdwatchers from around the world visit Dalyan to see these rare species.

The water is so clear that you can watch fish swimming alongside your boat throughout the journey. Single-story bars, restaurants, and cafes along the river blend harmoniously with the natural landscape.

One of the most striking historical sights is the ancient King’s Tombs, located on the right side when heading toward İztuzu Beach. Standing for over 3,000 years, these magnificent structures leave visitors in awe. While visitors could previously walk among the tombs, access has been restricted for the past four years due to preservation concerns.

You can reach this unique destination safely and comfortably by renting a car from Caretta Car Rental at Dalaman Airport.
